This Brown Sugar Bananas Recipe is my favorite thing to top a vegan vanilla bean ice cream. You can use honey or a vegan alternative, but that warm honey just melts the ice cream making almost a cream sauce for your caramelized bananas. There’s a slight crisp exterior to the bananas with a creamy interior. They are just delicious. Let me show you how to make them!

To make this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
- Ripe, but firm bananas, cut into slices
- Honey (OR vegan alternative)
- Brown Sugar
- Vegan Margarine
How to make my Brown Sugar Bananas Recipe
The first step is to peel the banana and cut it into thick slices. If they are too thin, they will just fall apart during the cooking process. Plus, cutting them a bit thicker allows for the crisp, caramelized exterior and the creamy soft interior which I love.
Melt the vegan margarine in a small non stick skillet and add the bananas. Now don’t move them until they become caramelized on the first side. This should take about 5 minutes or so. Flip and repeat on the second side.
Meanwhile, let’s whisk together the honey (or vegan alternative) and brown sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
Add this mixture to your caramelized bananas and allow to thicken slightly.

Serve with your favorite vegan vanilla bean ice cream and be sure to spoon some of that yummy honey glaze over your ice cream. When it melt the ice cream, you get a creamy sauce for your bananas that is just amazing.

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Honey OR Vegan Alternative
- 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Vegan Margarine
- 1 Banana ripe but still firm
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey (or vegan alternativand brown sugar. Set aside.
- Preheat a non stick skillet over medium high heat and melt the vegan margarine. Add the thick sliced bananas and don’t move them for about 5 minutes or until golden and caramelized. Flip and repeat.
- Add the honey mixture and cook just until thickened slightly.
- Spoon hot mixture over vegan vanilla bean ice cream and enjoy!
