REVIEW: BESTEK Electric Pressure Cooker

I am admittedly a little (ok, very) late to the electric pressure cooking game. But when I was given the opportunity to review the BESTEK 6-in-1 Multi-Functional Power Pressure Cooker, I thought it was a great opportunity to get my feet wet!

Pressure cookers used to be well, kind of scary, but I promise you … things have changed.  The BESTEK comes with 10 proven safety mechanisms and they make it simple to learn!  I took my time studying the manual before using it and I felt prepared to create my very first pressure cooker recipe.

REVIEW: BESTEK Electric Pressure Cooker

My first attempt, a 16 Bean Pasta e Fagioli, seemed a little lofty given that there were so many different sized beans. I decided that this might be a better time to use the bean setting, rather than the soup setting.  Since I was using dried, I gave myself a bit of extra assurance and soaked the beans overnight first, drained and rinsed.  You can see my full recipe right here!

Doesn’t it look delicious?  It freezes really well if you leave out the ditalini pasta and add that when reheating. Perfect meal prep!

The steps are simple.  First, read the manual.  Then, add the 16 Bean Soup Mix (minus the seasoning packet-it’s not vegan) season the beans yourself (because you can’t open the lid mid-cooking), add liquids and close the cover. Choose the bean setting (or the soup setting, if you are using canned or pre-cooked beans) and lastly, open only when the steam ceases. I add the pasta at this point.  Ditalini is so small, it cooks quickly.

  1. […] Of course, if you don’t yet have a pressure cooker, no worries.  I’ll give you the instructions to make it on the stove top too.  Recipes in an instant are all the rage right now and since I am wayyyy behind the times with that, I figured I’d give it a try.  You can find my review here.
